Snow Ball

The Richmond Snow Ball in December has been an event established by the City of Richmond and held annually for the last 66 years to honor outstanding high school students. It is currently sponsored by the Community Services Department. The Snow Ball is the only city collaboration which has combined all the high schools and charter schools from the West Contra Costa Unified School District to participate in this gala event under one roof.

Qualified students with a minimum 3.5 GPA and outstanding civic and/or athletic contributions are interviewed by a select committee and chosen to represent their respective schools. All winners will compete for the overall winning king and queen title (and members of their court) on the evening of the “super senior prom”- the Snow Ball. The king, queen and court are awarded crowns and cash scholarship awards at the Snow Ball event.

Let’s show our support from the City of Richmond, by honoring these brilliant individuals. They need to know we care.

Last year, Garry & Maryn Hurlbut contributed $5000 for cash awards for the Snow Ball king and queen. This year we are agreeing to again contribute $5000 from the Hurlbut Trust to match funds that are contributed from other sources.
